Captain Jack Sanders

Captain Sanders started his career in the Patrol Division at APD in March, 1979. He helped to create the Narcotics Division in 1984 and became the first Sergeant and first Lieutenant in the Narcotics Division. He helped to build the Narcotics Division to the successful division that it is today through City Council. In 1997, he coordinated Block Grants for overtime and equipment for the police officers. He also assisted with the inception of Crime Scene Techs. He was promoted to Captain of the Criminal Investigations Division (CID) in 1997. CID is responsible for all investigations and crime scenes for APD in criminal matters. In 1998, he created the Special Response Team which is now SWAT. In 1999, he added Crisis Negotiations to the SWAT team which has proven to be a very valuable asset. Captain Sanders is a member of the Joint Terrorism Task Force out of Greenville and he is Incident Commander for any law enforcement incidents relating to SWAT, Bomb Squad (EOD) or Crisis Negotiators for the Anderson Police Department.
