Public Information Officer

Anderson Police Department under the direction of Chief Martin D. Brown created the position of Public Information Officer in March of 2006. Randall Williams was the first point of contact for all outlets of the media at that time.

The Public Information function of the Anderson Police Department is the responsibility of the Public Information Officer. Press Releases from the Anderson Police Department will occur on an as needed basis. All prepared releases will come from the Office of the Chief of Police and will be released by the Public Information Officer.

Sergeant Tony Tilley began his law enforcement career with Due West Police Department as a Chaplain. He has been with the Anderson Police Department since January 2003 when he began as a Chaplain and Reserve Officer. After 2 years he joined the force as a full-time patrol officer. After spending 2 years as a patrol officer he became the School Resource Officer for the Anderson Alternative School. Afterwards, he was moved to the Criminal Investigations Division where he spent one year before he returned to patrol. Soon after his return to the Patrol Division, he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and is now the Sergeant of the Community Oriented Policing Services Team (COPS). Sgt. Tilley is a member of the Crisis Negotiation Team with Anderson City SWAT Team and is also on the AET (Alcohol Enforcement Task Force). Sgt. Tilley assumed the duties of Public Information Officer from Sgt. Randall Williams for the City of Anderson in July 2010.
