How do I report a crime and what info do I need?
Always dial 911 for an emergency and give the dispatcher all of the information that is requested such as your name, address, phone number, nature of crime, persons involved and what type of weapons are involved. It is very important that you give all of the requested information to the dispatcher as this makes the police officer more aware of the situation and crime.

If I have information on a crime, who do I call?
You can report a lead or tip on a case to CrimeStoppers at 231-STOP or you may email a tip to tipline@cityofandersonsc.com. You may also call our narcotics tip line at 231-2291 or the Street Crime Unit at 864-231-5208. You may also contact the Detective handling a criminal investigation.

How can I pay my fine?
You may pay your fine in the Records department at the Anderson Police Department by cash, money order or VISA. If you wish to mail your payment, please mail to the following address: ATTN: Records Division, Anderson Police Department, 401 South Main Street, Anderson, SC 29624. You can only mail a money order in as payment. Please do not send cash money through the mail.

If I have family member/friend that is an inmate at the City Jail, what can I bring them and when can I visit them?
Visitation is from 10:00am to 12:00 pm and then from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm. There is no visitation between the hours of 12:00 pm and 1:00 pm. You may visit an inmate Monday through Thursday during these times. There is no visitation on Fridays. Each inmate is allowed one hour of visitation per week and that one hour must be used in the same day. It can not be split up during two or more days. Three adults with picture identifications can split the one hour up and visit during that one hour. An inmate can receive $50.00 per week in the form of a money order. An inmate may also receive three white underwear, three white pairs of socks and three white t-shirts.

Where is the Anderson Municipal Court?
The Court room is located in the City Hall Complex on John Street. There is a parking lot on John Street where you can park for court and other court business.

What hours are the inmates allowed to place calls?
Inmates are allowed unlimited 10-minute calls between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m.

How can I receive calls from a family member or friend that is in Anderson City Jail?
Pay Tel Communications Inc. of Greensboro, NC is the telephone provider for all collect calls from the Anderson City jail. You may set up an account directly with Pay Tel by accessing their website, www.paytel.com/newaccount.html or calling 1-800-729-8355 (1-800-PAYTELL) and using the automated IVR system. If you have want to receive calls on your cell phone you must set up an account with Pay Tel. By prepaying for calls, you will be eligible for a discount on all calls accepted.
