Lieutenant Chris Cauthen

Lieutenant Chris Cauthen entered service with South Carolina Law Enforcement in 1992. Lieutenant Cauthen began her career at Winthrop University Campus Police in 1992. Lieutenant Cauthen joined the Anderson County Sheriff's Office in 1994 serving in the patrol division until 1998. In 2000 she served as the School Resource Officer at Palmetto Middle School with the Williamston Police Department until 2003 when she joined the City of Anderson Police Department in the uniform patrol division. While in the uniform patrol division she was promoted to the rank of Corporal, received training in Crisis Negotiations and currently serves as one of the Special Response Teams Crisis negotiators.

In the fall of 2006 Cauthen was transferred to the Criminal Investigations Division and developed and implemented the police departments Internet Crimes Against Children program with the South Carolina Attorney General's Office. As a member of the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force she has received extensive national training in the proactive response to criminal solicitation of minors involving the internet and the production and dissemination of child pornography. While in the Criminal Investigations Division she was promoted to the rank of Sergeant, was assigned to sex crimes, child abuse, Internet Crimes Against Children, Assistant Public Information Officer and the supervision of the investigative unit.

In the fall of 2009, Cauthen was transferred to the Support Services Division to assist with the South Carolina Law Enforcement Accreditation process and to continue with the Internet Crimes Against Children initiative. In July of 2010 she was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant and she currently is serving as the Accreditation Manager, Internet Crimes Against Children Investigator, Assistant Public Information Officer and supervises the Support Services Division.

Lieutenant Chris Cauthen graduated from Gardner-Webb University with a B/A in Sociology/Psychology in 1992 with a 3.6 GPA. In addition to graduating from the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy in 1993, Lieutenant Cauthen has received various awards from the State of South Carolina Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, the South Carolina Police Chief's Association and the City of Anderson. Lieutenant Cauthen is currently attending Anderson University as a student in the Commanders College Master's Program with an anticipated graduation date of May 2012.
