Anderson Police Hold Active Shooter Training At Local Elementary

The City of Anderson in partnership with District Five and Nevitt Forest Elementary has conducted live training scenarios for Active Shooter this past week for every certified police officer at the department. The department had a one-day training on June 8 that included teachers, assistants, administration and others at Nevitt Forest.

This training is instrumental and puts our officers in a mock scenario they could face in real life situations. Chief Stewart said that the City of Anderson currently has eight schools ranging from day schools, elementary, middle, alternative school, and a career campus. The City of Anderson Police Department has a School Resource Officer in each one of these schools. I want all of our officers to be totally prepared for an event that we pray never occurs in our jurisdiction.
